‘Larvae’ at Yellow Perril

By stephanie - June 15, 2015
Head to Yellow Peril Gallery to see “Larvae,” a new installation by sculptor Jamey Morrill. Morrill used mundane objects, such as plastic bottles and drywall screws, to create works that resemble tightly wound chrysalides in a dormant state. Some of the sculptures touch the floor, while others are suspended. Morrill notes that mass production of products used in her exhibit appear similar to the reproductive strategy of insects – “where risk and cost are spread thin as gossamer over many to assure the advancement of a few,” she said. When: Ongoing through Sunday, Dec. 9 Where: Yellow Peril Gallery, 60 Valley St., # 5, Providence Additional Information: Gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Openings on other days are by appointment only.
