Get a look at local bling

Thursday, learn about the history of jewelry in Rhode Island and get a peak at a few eye-catching pieces. Historic New England Associate Curator Laura Johnson will share information about the role Rhode Island’s jewelry manufacturing played in American jewelry production, and offer guests a firsthand look at her organization’s jewelry collection. Highlighted pieces include a mid-1800s tortoiseshell brooch, a 1930s green pendant made by Providence’s Little Nemo Co., and a bracelet from Rhode Island’s Chace family. Attendees will also learn about new research on the Ocean State’s jewelry industry.
