‘Elf’ arrives at PPAC

t’s not even Thanksgiving, but the Christmas season is in full swing at Providence Performing Arts Center. “Elf,” the Broadway musical based on the 2003 film, will kick off its national tour Sunday at the venue, sharing the tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag and is transported back to the North Pole. Raised as an elf, Buddy one day travels to New York City to confront his human identity and remind others of the true meaning of Christmas. The show opens Sunday. When: Show times at 1 and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4; 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and Wednesday, Nov. 7; 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9; 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Where: Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St., Providence Additional Information: Tickets: $41 to $68. Toy donations for Toys for Tots will be accepted prior to performances. Wednesday, Nov. 7 will be family night. A limited number of tickets for those 18 and younger will be offered free with the purchase of a full-priced ticket for the 7 p.m. show.
