Colonial weekend

The Smith-Appleby House in Smithfield will offer a glimpse of life in the colonial times Saturday and Sunday. Through a variety of reenactments and demonstrations, spectators will observe 18th-century living, including the camp life of Revolutionary War soldiers. Learn how fires were lit, meals were cooked and artillery was fired. There will also be reenactments of militia drills and a canon demonstration. Visitors will have a chance to tour the historic house, browse period crafts and wares or listen to entertainment by colonial musicians and artisans. When: Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Smith-Appleby House Museum, 220 Stillwater Road, Smithfield Additional Information: Admission: $5 donation for adults, children 12 and younger admitted free.
